We’re All Struggling – Why Make It Harder?

I’ve seen a lot of posts and videos lately of people talking about how you should only give your time and energy to people who take time out of their day to check up on you. To take everything personally if they’re not checking in or coming to visit or calling to chat… whatever.
Basically – if they don’t check up on you why should you check up on them?
To me – I hate that.

Life is hard.
Working is exhausting.
Existing in a world where everything seems chaotic more often than not sucks.

Sometimes taking care of yourself, your spouse, your kids, your pets, your family… whoever is all you can do… and it shouldn’t be a reason to stop friendships or hold grudges because someone just doesn’t have time right now to drop everything and check up on you.

I know personally when I get home from work I am exhausted.
I don’t want to do anything or talk to anyone or exert any energy – I just want to do what I need to do and then lay down and rest before I have to do it all over again tomorrow.

I think about my friends often – oh I should text so and so, oh I need to tell so and so this.. and then something happens and I forget.
The thought is there – the action just didn’t happen.
It doesn’t mean I don’t love my friends, or miss them, or want to talk to them – it means life happens.
And I’m tired.
We’re all tired.
And someone holding a grudge because of that just sucks.

I know my friends know I love them.
I know my friends love me.
We don’t have to talk all the time, we don’t take it personally if we don’t talk for a week… life is busy.
life gets in the way.
It’s nothing personal – we’re all doing our best… why make it harder thinking that everyone owes YOU something… everyone should be thinking about YOU…
It’s a struggle to take care of ourselves these days – and we should all remember we’re all taking it one day at a time.

I love you – I may not say it all the time and we may not talk every single day – but I’m always here.
I’m always your friend.
And no matter what I will always hold our friendship close.
No matter what.
