ScareFest 2024

Ahhh long weekends.
I swear, they fix everything.

We just took a long weekend for our 12th wedding anniversary – whoooo!! 12 years!!
And this year we did something we didn’t even know was a thing – we went to a convention called ScareFest.
AND IT WAS AMAZING!

12 years married means horror convention, right?

We had a BLAST!!!
We got a weekend pass and went all 3 days and it could not have been more fun.

Day 1

Friday was the first day – we had no idea what we were doing or where to go but we figured it out.
When we got to the fest the LINE was SOOOOO long it was insane.
Thankfully, if you had a pass, you got to go in different doors through a shorter line – I was oh so grateful we bought weekend passes at that moment! LOL

For day 1 being a short day we really accomplished a lot!
First up we met Danielle Harris from the Halloween franchise and the Talk Scary to Me podcast.
Secondly I met Steve and Tango from Ghost Hunters and had a BLAST talking to them and making Steve laugh really hard.
Third up we met Jamie Kennedy from Scream and Malibu’s Most Wanted.
And last but DEFINITELY not least we had a photo op with the man himself, Matthew Lillard.
He was the only “have to” on my list, and if we hadn’t gotten a photo op, we would not have met him because Matthew Lillard seemed to be everyone’s “have to,” lol.
We literally bought the photo op on the way down there that day because we just knew there would probably be no other way.
Great thinking.

Day 2

On day 2 of the fest, we knew it would be packed, so we had to make a plan. We knew we wanted to get a picture with the creeper truck and the creeper immediately, so that’s what we did!

The guy that owns the truck (yes, it’s the truck from the movie!) was soooo nice and soooo fun and you can tell he loves doing this for a living.
We had a BLAST and the lady took a billion pictures and videos but I will only post one for you – it was so great!

So, for celebrities, on day 2, we got to meet some amazing people!
First up, we met Devon Sawa, who of course is from Casper, Little Giants, Now and Then, Final Destination…. and soooo many other movies! Dream come true for my little 90’s heart!
Secondlywe met Greg Nicotero who was ABSOLUTELY STUNNING and I would have loved to stand there and talk to him all day. I told him my favorite episode he directed on TWD and he was very appreciative and thankful for me telling him that and he said he doesn’t get that one a lot but he wished more people did because he really enjoyed making that one. And no I won’t tell you so you don’t steal my line – lol but I really enjoyed him – he was so nice and kind and genuinely appreciated talking to us.
Last up for day 2 we met Marley Shelton from The Sandlot and Scream – she was so nice and sweet and wrote “you pervert!” on Eric’s autograph for the boys. It was funny! we met Greg Nicotero who was ABSOLUTELY STUNNING and I would have loved to stand there and talk to him all day.

Day 3

Day 3 was a great day because it was slower, there were less crowds and you actually got to walk around and check out the vendors – I swear I was seeing vendors that I hadn’t seen before because there was LESS of a crowd! LOL
I kept going “has this been here“? and Eric was like “I’m sure it has” but what do we know.

On day three of the convention, we finally got to meet the guy who plays the Creeper in all three Jeepers Creepers movies. His name is Jonathan Breck. He was so nice and fun to talk to—I really enjoyed meeting him.
Secondly, we met Miko Hughes, who played Gage in Pet Semetary, and he was also in New Nightmare – plus a billion other things you would know him from. We had a LONG chat with him about horror movies and why Beetlejuice Beetlejuice was just not it. It was funny!
Lastly I met Heather Donahue from The Blair Witch Project and told her that movie was one of the first horror movies I had ever seen and it’s what got me into loving horror the way I do now. She was very nice!

Everyone we met was absolutely FABULOUS, and we already can’t wait to go back next year! It was just so fun.
The “staph” was great, the fans were great, the celebrities and vendors were great.
10/10 recommend!

Happy 12 years to us! And many many more to come – and to many more ScareFests.
It’s all a great time!

xoxo
