There’s just something about this time of year that makes life feel a little lighter.
The sun is shining, the weather is warm without being miserable, and suddenly everything feels happier. The days feel longer, people seem friendlier, and even the smallest things start to feel exciting again. After months of cold weather, gloomy skies, and hiding under blankets, stepping outside into sunshine almost feels like a reset button for your brain.
Lately, one of my favorite things has simply been being in the pool.
Not for anything fancy. Not for exercise. Not for a big event. Just floating around, soaking up sunshine, listening to the water move, and letting myself exist for a little while without stress sitting on my shoulders. Pool days feel like therapy sometimes.
There’s something peaceful about hearing birds in the distance while the sun warms your skin and the water cools you off at the same time. It reminds me that happiness doesn’t always have to come from huge life changes. Sometimes it’s just:
- sunshine on your face
- a cold drink nearby
- music playing softly
- and having nowhere important to be for a little while

I think we forget how much weather can affect our mood until the nice days finally arrive again. The second the sun comes out, I suddenly want to romanticize my entire life. I want to go outside more. I want to take walks. I want colorful drinks and fresh air and late sunsets and every tiny bit of joy I can grab onto.
I think that’s a good thing.
Life gets heavy sometimes. Work gets stressful. Responsibilities pile up. Our brains get loud. But these warm, sunny moments remind us that we’re allowed to slow down and enjoy things too.
This season always feels like a reminder that life isn’t only about surviving your schedule. It’s also about enjoying the moments in between.
So yes… I will absolutely be spending as much time in the pool as possible this summer. Floating around dramatically like a retired rich aunt with zero responsibilities? That’s the energy.
The sunshine version of me is thriving. ☀️💦
