Sometimes You Have to Ask For Help

I’m not very good at asking for help.

Actually, I hate it. 😂

I would much rather figure things out myself, stress about it privately, and somehow make it work than tell people, “Hey, we could use a little help over here.”

But here we are.

If you’d like to donate or share our fundraiser, you can find it here:

Eric has been dealing with back and leg pain for a while now, and we finally found out that he has a buildup on one of the discs in his lower back that is pressing on a nerve.

Unfortunately, it isn’t something that’s just going to magically disappear.

He needs surgery to remove the buildup and get the pressure off the nerve.

And because apparently having back surgery isn’t stressful enough by itself, there’s also the financial side of it.

Before we even get to surgery, he needs an MRI that is going to cost us around $1,000 out of pocket.

ONE. MRI.

A thousand dollars.

Healthcare is fun. 🙃

We don’t even know yet exactly what our portion of the surgery will cost. Then there are follow-up appointments, medications, recovery expenses, and everything else that tends to pop up when you’re dealing with something medical.

It adds up very, very quickly.

So I did something that feels incredibly weird for me.

I made a GoFundMe. https://gofund.me/831aad84d

I went back and forth about doing it because there is always that little voice in my head saying, “Other people have it worse,” or “You’ll figure it out.”

And maybe we would.

But I’m also realizing that sometimes you don’t have to make everything harder on yourself just because you technically could struggle through it.

The goal isn’t to have strangers pay for our entire lives. 😂 It’s simply to take some of the pressure off while we get Eric through his surgery and recovery.

Every little bit helps.

And if someone can’t donate, which I completely understand because everything is expensive right now, sharing the fundraiser helps too.

Mostly, I just want Eric to be able to get this taken care of, get that nerve some relief, and hopefully get back to feeling like himself again.

We’ll figure out the rest as we go.

Because apparently that’s what adulthood is: figuring things out as you go and occasionally discovering that an MRI costs a freaking thousand dollars.

And seriously, whether you donate, share, send good thoughts, or just read this far, thank you. 🖤
