Apparently I Needed Another Hobby… So I Started a Podcast! 🎙️🖤

Well, I’ve officially done it.

I’ve added ANOTHER thing to my already ridiculous list of things I have going on. 😂

Because apparently working full-time, going to graduate school, running a blog, keeping up with social media, and taking care of five animals wasn’t enough to keep me busy.

Nope.

I decided I needed a podcast, too.

Introducing Ashli and Other Horrors! 🎙️👻🖤

And honestly? I’m really excited about this one.

🎙️ Wait… You Started a Podcast?!

YES. Yes, I did.

I’ve thought about starting a podcast for a while now, but it was always one of those things I kept putting off.

I’d think about it, get excited, start coming up with ideas, and then talk myself out of it.

Because who has time for another project?

Apparently me. Or at least that’s what I’m telling myself. 😂

But I’ve realized that sometimes you just have to stop thinking about doing something and actually DO IT.

So I bought a microphone, figured out how to record myself talking into it, and here we are.

Am I a professional podcaster? Absolutely not.

Am I figuring things out as I go? You better believe it.

But that’s part of the fun!

👻 So What’s Ashli and Other Horrors About?

First things first, despite the name, this isn’t JUST a horror podcast.

Although, let’s be serious. Horror is absolutely going to be part of it.

I love scary movies, Halloween, creepy things, and basically anything that makes normal people question my decorating choices. 😂

But I also love talking about life.

And I have a LOT to say.

So this podcast is going to be a little bit of everything.

We’re talking horror movies, television shows, pop culture, pets, relationships, getting older, unpopular opinions, and all the random things that happen when you’re just trying to survive adulthood.

Some episodes might be funny.

Some might be a little more personal.

Some might involve me going on a completely unnecessary rant about something that happened three weeks ago.

Who knows?!

That’s kind of the point.

Life is weird. Let’s talk about it.

🖤 I Want It to Feel Like We’re Just Hanging Out

One thing I knew from the beginning was that I didn’t want this podcast to feel overly scripted or serious.

I don’t want to sound like I’m reading a college presentation.

I do enough of that already, THANK YOU. 😂

I want it to feel like you’re sitting across from me having a conversation.

Like we’re hanging out, drinking coffee, talking about something ridiculous, and somehow ending up on a completely different subject than where we started.

Because that’s pretty much how my brain works anyway.

And while I absolutely love horror, I also want this to be a place where we can talk about the everyday stuff.

The funny stuff.

The frustrating stuff.

The things nobody really prepares you for.

And sometimes the things that are a little harder to talk about.

I want it to be real.

Not perfect. Not polished to the point where it doesn’t sound like me.

Just me, talking about things I love, things that annoy me, and whatever else happens to be on my mind.

Which, honestly, could be dangerous. 😂

🐾 And Yes, I’m Sure the Animals Will Make an Appearance

Listen.

I have five animals.

There is absolutely no way I’m going to record a podcast without one of them deciding they need to be involved.

Between Benny, Cash, Draco, Falcor, and Goose, somebody is ALWAYS doing something.

If you hear a random meow in the background, there’s a pretty good chance it’s Goose announcing his presence to the entire household.

If you hear something crashing, please just assume everyone is fine.

Probably.

I make no promises about the background noise in this house. 😂

But honestly, I wouldn’t have it any other way.

❤️ Why I Finally Decided to Do It

I think one of the biggest reasons I wanted to start this podcast is because I genuinely enjoy connecting with people.

That’s one of my favorite things about blogging and social media.

Getting to share little pieces of my life, talk about things I enjoy, and find other people who can relate.

And I wanted another way to do that.

Something a little more personal.

Something where you can actually hear my voice, my personality, and probably how easily I get distracted.

I’ve spent a lot of time overthinking things in my life.

Wondering whether I should do something.

Wondering if people will like it.

Wondering if I’m going to be any good at it.

And I’ve decided I’m tired of letting those thoughts stop me from trying new things.

Will this podcast become some huge thing?

I have absolutely no idea.

But I know I’m excited about it, and that’s enough reason for me to give it a shot.

Plus, if nothing else, I’ll have a collection of recordings documenting just how ridiculous I am.

So there’s that. 😂

🎧 Come Listen to My Horror Show!

My podcast trailer is officially available, and my first episode, Welcome to My Horror Show!, is out too!

The trailer gives you a little introduction to what Ashli and Other Horrors is all about, and the first episode is where I introduce myself and talk about why I decided to start this adventure.

If you’ve followed my blog or social media for a while, you probably already know that my interests are all over the place.

And now you get to hear me talk about them!

🎙️ Listen to Ashli and Other Horrors here:

Listen to Ashli and Other Horrors on Spotify!

I’d love for you to give it a listen, follow the podcast, and come along for whatever this turns into.

And if you enjoy it, sharing it with someone else would mean so much to me.

Starting something new is exciting, but it’s also a little scary. Especially when you’re putting yourself out there in a completely different way.

So every listen, follow, and little bit of encouragement genuinely means a lot.

🖤 Here’s to Trying New Things!

I don’t know exactly where this podcast is going to take me.

I don’t know what episodes will end up being everybody’s favorites.

And I definitely don’t know how many times I’ll record something and immediately think, “Why do I sound like that?!” 😂

But I’m excited to find out.

Life is already busy, stressful, weird, and unpredictable.

Sometimes you just need to do something because it makes you happy.

And right now, this makes me happy.

So here’s to trying something new, figuring it out as I go, and hopefully making a few people laugh along the way.

Thank you for being here, for supporting all my random adventures, and for continuing to follow along even when I decide to add yet another project to my life.

I promise I do occasionally sleep.

Welcome to Ashli and Other Horrors. 🎙️👻🖤

Come for the horror. Stay for everything else.

And seriously, somebody stop me before I start another hobby. 😂
