I Feel More Grateful Each Day

It’s a few days into 2025, and I am trying to feel grateful for everything.
It’s been a rough start—I came into 2025 sick as a dog—but I was grateful for being at home, snuggling my dogs, and getting a long winter break from work.

Grateful.

Sometimes, it is HARD to feel grateful.

The end and the beginning of an old/new year, for example.

But if you find time to think about what you have and the good things that have come to you recently, you may just realize you have a lot to be grateful for.

Daily Gratitude Practices

  1. Start a Gratitude Journal
Write down three things you’re grateful for every day. Be specific and focus on the small details.
    • Example: Instead of “I’m grateful for my family,” write, “I’m grateful for the way my mom made me tea today.”
  2. Morning or Evening Reflection
Set aside a few minutes in the morning or before bed to reflect on what went well that day.
  3. Gratitude Jar
Write notes of gratitude on small pieces of paper and place them in a jar. At the end of the year, revisit your notes.

Mindfulness and Awareness

  1. Practice Mindful Gratitude
Take a moment to fully experience and appreciate small moments, like a beautiful sunset or the taste of your favorite meal.
  2. Appreciate the Present
Focus on the now. Gratitude often flourishes when we notice what’s happening in the moment.

Expressing Gratitude

  1. Say Thank You
Make it a habit to thank people genuinely and specifically for their efforts, whether big or small.
  2. Write Gratitude Letters
Write a letter to someone who has made a positive impact on your life. If possible, deliver it in person.
  3. Celebrate Acts of Kindness
Acknowledge and express gratitude for kind gestures, no matter how small.

Shift Your Perspective

  1. Reframe Challenges
Find something to appreciate in tough situations. For example, recognize the lessons learned from challenges.
  2. Focus on Abundance
Shift your attention from what you lack to what you have, no matter how small.

Incorporate Gratitude into Routine

  1. Gratitude Prompts
Use prompts like “What’s one thing I’m glad I experienced today?” or “What’s a strength I’m grateful for?”
  2. Use Visual Reminders
Place sticky notes or quotes in visible areas to remind you to be grateful.

Deepen Your Practice

  1. Practice Gratitude Meditation
Sit quietly and mentally list things you’re grateful for. Focus on how these make you feel.
  2. Connect with Nature
Spend time outside and reflect on the beauty of the natural world.
  3. Share with Others
Discuss gratitude practices with friends or family to build a supportive community.

Consistency is key—start small and gradually make gratitude a natural part of your life!
And since it is the beginning of the year, it is a perfect time to incorporate this into your daily routine so you can get the hang of it and enjoy being grateful.

xoxo
