Let’s Talk Self Care

Ahhh self care.
Always sounds amazing but how many of us ACTUALLY do self care like we’re supposed to?
I’ll wait for you to figure out your answer.
Ready for my answer?
An hour a day.
That is the only time I do anything for myself – and really it’s only an hour a day for 5 days a week.

I came to this realization today when I was talking to my wonderful therapist and she was cracking me open like an egg.
We were discussing me and what I needed from myself and others and why I felt overwhelmed and it hit me like a ton of bricks – I only THINK ABOUT MYSELF and TAKE CARE OF MYSELF one hour a day, 5 days a week because that’s the time I take during the day to go to the gym.
That is it.
I also said the movies is self care for me because it’s another place I get to go and not think about anything but what is happening on screen and that’s why I love the movies so much.
It take you into another world and lets you live in that world for a little bit and it’s fantastic.
I literally realized it and started to cry.
Of course she asked why I was crying – even though she already knew lol – and I told her that’s depressing.
I spend all of my time worrying about life, work, the dogs, my husband, my family, money, dinner, podcasts, etsy, laundry… you name it – I’m thinking about it.
And NOTHING on that list includes me.
I had never realized how far down on the list I made myself.
How I wasn’t even a thought to myself.
And that made me sad.

Sad to think how little I meant to myself – so how am I supposed to mean something big to others when I don’t even mean something big to me?

So now we’re learning to put myself first, to let others know I need to be appreciated, to appreciate myself and make sure I am a priority to myself because if I don’t make myself a priority how am I supposed to love myself?

The gym will always be a great escape.
The movies as well – but now I’ve started a book club to make sure I have more time to myself and more time to get out of my head and spend time with characters in a book that take me into a place that isn’t here for just a little bit so I can relax, enjoy and take my mind off things.

If you’d like to join us please head here and join – https://www.patreon.com/wildflowerbookclub we’d love to have you.

PLEASE make sure to start taking time for yourself.
You deserve it.
No one will love you like you.
